En tant que curateurice et autrice indépendant.e, Elia-Rosa Guirous-Amasse collabore avec des espaces alternatifs perçus comme des foyers d’idées radicales. En véritable utopiste, sa recherche explore les nuances des préjugés coloniaux au sein des technopouvoirs et s’inscrit dans la lignée de ceux et celles qui considèrent la pratique curatoriale comme un engagement écologique et social.

Diplômé.e du Master “Administration of Visual Arts” de l’Université de New York en 2022 après obtention de la Robert and Nelly Gibson Fellowship, son mémoire explore les rapports entre les institutions d’art contemporain françaises et les artistes de la diaspora algérienne, un champ de recherche qu’elle continue d’approfondir à travers ses écrits et proximité les artistes de la diaspora SWANA (Asie du Sud-Ouest et Afrique du Nord). A New York, iel se forme aux côtés de Charles Aubin et Roselee Goldberg à Performa en tant qu’assistant.e curateurice. L’année suivante, iel crée Connected Matter, un collectif artistique et curatorial qui examine le rôle de la technologie dans les arts au prisme du cyberféminisme. Avec le soutien du Goethe Institute, le collectif lance sa troisième édition à Copenhague proposant We Run Together Through The Virtual Quarries, une exposition qui interroge les liens entre extraction minière, technologie et capitalisme vert.

Iel a récemment assisté l’artiste Danielle Freakley et le commissaire Raimundas Malasauskas pour le pavillon des Seychelles lors de la 60e Biennale de Venise. Iel rédige fréquemment des articles pour diverses revues. Actuellement, elle développe un programme de débats et de performances pour l’espace culturel Simian à Copenhague, axé sur l’écologie de la résistance.

As an independent curator and writer, Elia-Rosa Guirous-Amasse collaborates with alternative spaces perceived as hotbeds of radical ideas. A true utopian, her research explores the nuances of colonial prejudices within technopowers and aligns with those who view curatorial practice as an ecological and social commitment.

Graduating from New York University's Master of Arts in Administration in Visual Arts in 2022 after receiving the Robert and Nelly Gibson Fellowship, her dissertation explores the relationships between French contemporary art institutions and artists from the Algerian diaspora, a field of research she continues to explore through her writings and her engagement with artists from the SWANA diaspora (Southwest Asia and North Africa). In New York, she trained alongside Charles Aubin and Roselee Goldberg at Performa as a curatorial assistant. The following year, they founded Connected Matter, an artistic and curatorial collective that examines the role of technology in the arts through the lens of cyberfeminism. With the support of the Goethe Institute, the collective launched its third edition in Copenhagen with We Run Together Through The Virtual Quarries, an exhibition that explores the connections between mining, technology, and green capitalism.

They recently assisted artist Danielle Freakley and curator Raimundas Malasauskas for the Seychelles Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale. They frequently write articles for various journals. They are currently developing a program of discussions and performances for the Simian cultural space in Copenhagen, focusing on the ecology of resistance.
